It is nearing midnight. The lump of metal near my bed that generates heat and cold is making hissing noises at me & I have no idea why. After about a month of listening to its deep mechanical breathing I'm still at a loss. It's not even turned on. Any time I ask someone if they hear what I hear, they look at me oddly.
